WELCOME to my studio
Jan Wilken
Studio
Harahan, Louisiana, a suburb of New
Orleans, has been home the majority of my
life and is where I now enjoy painting in my
loft studio.

My first formal art instruction was with John
McCrady in his Bourbon Street  studio, where
I received a wonderful art foundation to build
on.  I painted in oil with McCrady and during
the child-rearing phase of my life.

Ten years ago I embarked on painting in
watercolor which better suited a full time
career.  And what a journey it has been.  I
study water media with regional, nationally
and internationally known artists every
chance I get.  I've had many successful solo
exhibits in the New Orleans area, on the
North Shore, the Mississippi Gulf Coast
(pre-Katrina) and in St. Francisville, LA.

My works have been featured twice on the
cover of "The Parish" magazine and selected
for the "Art in April" poster in St. Bernard and
the inaugural St. Rose DeLema Fair poster
in Bay St. Louis, Mississippi.

Please join me on my journey and visit my
web-page Galleries.  Most of the gallery
works have been sold and are included in
private and corporate collections around the
country.   A few are still available and I've
made giclee prints of last year's most
popular pieces.
AFTER TWO YEARS OF PROCRASTINATION,
I CREATED THIS WEBSITE IN  FEBRUARY,
2007, WITH THE HELP OF FELLOW ARTIST
AND MOST PATIENT FRIEND, DIANNE
COCHRAN.

IMAGES IN THE GALLERIES ARE LARGE
FOR EASY VIEWING AND WILL BE
UPDATED AS I CREATE NEW PAINTINGS.

I LOVE SHARING MY ART AND WILL BEGIN
OFFERING WEEKEND WORKSHOPS IN
THE NEAR FUTURE.

PLEASE CONTACT ME AT (504) 738-9318 IF
YOU HAVE QUESTIONS.

THANKS FOR VISITING AND COME BACK
SOON.
